Taylor Lewis

Taylor Lewis, the Communication Director of the Climbing Coalition, brings a dynamic blend of professional expertise and a passion for climbing to the community. In his day job, Taylor serves as a manufacturing engineer for a defense contractor.

His journey into climbing began with an opportunity to visit Gritstone, where he experienced the thrill of climbing for the first time. Guided by a friend named Steve, Taylor jumped into outdoor climbing, instantly becoming a fan.

One standout climbing achievement for Taylor is conquering "Shady Lady, 5.7" in New River Gorge. As a relatively new sport climber at the time, reaching the top of the 60-foot route without any falls marked a significant milestone in his climbing journey. However, Rocky Gap holds a special place in Taylor's heart as his first outdoor climbing area, making it one of his favorite spots.

As an executive member of the Climbing Coalition, Taylor aspires to broaden the community's reach and increase its membership. His vision for the future involves highlighting the unique attributes of the area to attract more climbers. Taylor's goal is not only to contribute to the growth of the climbing community but also to foster inclusivity and a sense of belonging. He plans to engage with the climbing community through various initiatives, events, and projects, with a commitment to promoting inclusivity.

Outside of climbing, Taylor's interests extend to photography, backpacking, and traveling, showcasing a well-rounded and adventurous personality. A fun fact about Taylor is that he was born in the town where “The Office” was set.
