WMCC Community Climb FAQs

  • What is the Community Climb Day?

    The Community Climb Day is an inclusive event hosted by the Western Maryland Climbing Coalition (WMCC) aimed at bringing together climbing enthusiasts of all levels to enjoy a day of climbing.

  • Who can participate in the event?

    The event is open to climbers of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned climbers. Minors are welcome to participate with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Whether you're just starting your climbing journey or you're an experienced climber, everyone is welcome to join us for a day of fun and adventure. Guests are also welcome to attend the social mixer after the climbing sessions, but they will not be allowed to climb.

  • Do I need to bring my own climbing equipment?

    No, all climbing equipment will be provided for participants. This includes harnesses, helmets, ropes, and other necessary gear. However, if you have your own equipment and prefer to use it, you're welcome to bring it along.

  • Is there an age requirement to participate?

    Participants must be at least 18 years old to attend the event without adult supervision. Minors may participate with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

  • What should I wear for the event?

    We recommend wearing comfortable, athletic clothing suitable for outdoor activities. Closed-toe shoes with good traction are essential for the short trek to the climbing location. Layers are also recommended, as weather conditions can vary throughout the day.

  • Will there be food and drinks provided?

    Food and drinks will not be provided during the climbing sessions. However, participants are encouraged to bring their own snacks and water to stay hydrated and energized throughout the day.

  • Is there a fee to participate in the event?

    No, there is no fee to participate in the event. All climbing equipment and instruction will be provided free of charge.

  • Can I bring guests or non-climbers to the event?

    Guests are welcome to join the social mixer at Dig Deep in Cumberland after the climbing sessions (if we are hosting one). However, participation in the climbing activities is reserved for registered participants only.
