Alec Gibson

When he’s not working for Johns Hopkins Medicine or co-running his creative studio, Crosshook, Alec serves as the Graphic Designer for the Western Maryland Climbing Coalition. While in the position, he hopes to continue to develop the W.M.C.C. brand, voice and visual communication for the group.

Alec’s climbing career began in college when his friends invited him to climb and hang out at the campus rec center wall until his semi-retirement in 2016. After three years of only climbing ladders, he moved to Baltimore, where he got involved with the local Facebook group. This reopened his love of the sport. Since then, Alec has hiked and climbed all over the state, assisting in the development of Climb Maryland Vol. 1 and 2. His favorite accomplishment so far was climbing to the summit of Seneca Rock.

Along with his W.M.C.C. design goals, Alec hopes to promote environmental awareness, educate on proper climbing practices and create a community of people excited about climbing.

A fun fact about Alec is that he is an avid film buff. In his downtime, you can find him watching, studying and writing all types of movies.
